Hey

I have found that you have included almost everything in this article about venues. One thing that you could have also wrote about is viewing gigs online on websites such as youtube.com. There are so many videos which you can view on youtube and alot of them are of concerts. The quality of the online video may not be so good, however those viewing still get to see the performance. Many people might prefer to do this as it is free. Other then that i have found your article to the point and very interesting to read.

I'd be really interested to see some links to websites of venues, and I think some discussion of what venues currently seem to do on the internet (even if it's just use email) would be helpful when working this up into your finished proposal.

Seeing as the internet has is an important contributor to the success of a venue, I think venues should do more work to ensure a healthy online presence. For example; there are few venues in Birmingham at least that have a sucessful website that makes use of elements like embedded video and audio. Streaming a video recording of a recent gig at the Academy for example would attract more users to their website and make more of their online presence.

The only two venues in Birmingham that have a decent listings page are the Carling Academy and The Barfly. Smaller venues should take a leaf in my opinion...
